Berlin is a city both old and new. Having been unified less than 20 years, you can still see remnants of its divided past. Today, much has changed and the city continues to evolve. This is what makes Berlin so special: just from exploring the sights, you feel like you are living through a series of historical events.

Tourcaster’s “Walki-Talki” tour of Berlin begins at Reichstag, Germany’s Parliament. Here, you will learn of the major political events that have taken place over the last couple of hundred years.

May 2005 marked the 60th anniversary of the fall of the Nazi regime. For this landmark event, the city of Berlin opened the Holocaust memorial to commemorate the 6 million Jews that suffered under Hitler. As you walk through the memorial, you will learn brave stories of Jewish families that endured Hitler’s torture during the War.

As you continue to soak in the sights, you will pass what is left of the Berlin Wall. Its graffiti reveals sentiments of the Cold War and through your iPod, you will learn about its incredible rise and fall.

Towards the end of your tour, you’ll visit the Gendarmenmarkt; one of Berlins most cultural squares with adjacent concert halls and museums, before ending at the Berliner Dom; a Baroque style church that was badly damaged in the War, but is now restored to its original beauty.

Come visit these and other extraordinary sights in Berlin. With Tourcaster as your guide, you are set for a historical adventure!
