International Flare in Edinburgh

Besides its beautiful castle, Edinburgh is well known for its annual International Festival, which runs from August to September. This arts festival began in 1947 and has since exploded into an international affair. Artists, actors, musicians and dancers come from around the world to perform in Scotland’s capital city.

While you are there, be sure to soak in Edinburgh’s heritage by exploring Old Town and New Town. Stroll down Princes street for some of the city’s best shopping then take a breather in Princes gardens where you will find an intriguing floral clock.

Across the gardens you’ll enter old town. Take a tour of Edinburgh castle as well as the many squares in Old Town that feature the city’s Parliament offices. Along the way you’ll discover the Witches Memorial where over 300 women were burned as witches between 1479 and 1722. You’ll also pass by grassmarket, full of lively pubs and traditional Scottish goods.

Take note of the theatres and museums while you explore, as many of the festival events are hosted there.

Fill your senses with arts and heritage this summer! Visit Tourcaster for all your sightseeing needs throughout Edinburgh and don’t forget to check out www.eif.co.uk for details on the International Festival.
